René Vidal’s 3 Keys to Self-Discipline

Self-Discipline, Time Management

Discipline is your ability to keep the promises you make to yourself and to others. “Professionals make decisions based on their commitments. Amateurs make decisions based on how they feel,” writes billion-dollar real estate broker Ryan Serhant in his best-selling book Big Money Energy. Every second of every day, we have a choice.

Are you an amateur or are you a pro?

Here are my three keys to self-discipline and dominating like a pro.

#1: Win Your Morning

Champions in life are always focused on positioning. A healthy morning routine sets you up for success. For me, there’s nothing I love more than waking up at 5am and reading something inspirational while having my morning coffee. I work out from 6-7am., shower, eat, and I’m good to go! How can you improve your morning start-up ritual?

Opportunities are like sunrises. If you wait too long, you miss them.

#2: Know What You’re Building

What is your goal? Are you building a great body, a great business, a great relationship…? Be clear on your end game and why you want to be the best at what you do. Sure, dominance is its own reward, but beating The Joker at his own game (revenge motivation) or fulfilling your life purpose (positive aspiration) makes the game much more fun.

Discipline is the bridge between goals and achievement.

#3: Eat the Big Frog First

The frog represents your hardest task. For me, it’s content creation. An early-riser, my most creative hours are in the morning. That means I must block out time for research, writing, hosting my podcasts, and creating actionable content. When on my game, I’m publishing like a pro! When I’m not disciplined, it’s a rough day!!

What’s your big frog?

When you dominate your morning, you establish agency and build confidence. You are in control.

When you know what you’re building, you lead with clarity, saying yes to what matters and eliminating needless distractions. You are focused.

When you eat the big-ass frog first, you acquaint yourself with discomfort, building the kind of grit that separates you from everyone else. You are unstoppable.

Are you ready?…Let’s go!
